Ramersdorf

Ramersdorf

Rammersdorf is primarily a residential neighborhood, where along with smart residential neighborhoods there are also social houses. In this district is the famous Church of Mary Ramersdorf, a place of pilgrimage for the faithful of Bavaria.

Ramersdorf is often referred to as the “Gateway of the South”, as this former village has always been and remains an important transport hub for Munich.

In Ramersdorf there is a tavern “The Old Master”, which is said to be the oldest beer house with a garden in Munich. It’s difficult to know for sure whether this is true, but one thing is certain: the inn was already open here in the 17th century. Together with the Mesnerhaus, the church and the princely hunting lodge it forms the historic center of Ramersdorf, which, however, is now heavily squeezed by large streets such as the Innsbrucker Ring.

But already in 2015 significant changes have been made to the development plans for the area. Extensive construction projects are set to begin, with the aim of making the historic center of Ramersdorf greener and, above all, quieter.

Perlach

Perlach can be divided into three parts: Altperlach, with its historical center – St. Michael’s Church, Waldperlach, one of the favorite places of residence of city residents, Neuperlach with its huge residential buildings – all together make up the largest satellite city of Munich.

The Ostpark and Maulwurfshausen Amusement Park are great places for recreation in the suburbs. For those who love shopping, there is an excellent shopping center.

Neuperlach is generally considered to be quite different: This is due to the “residential ring” around Theodor-Heuss-Platz. Since the 1950s Munich has experienced excessive population growth. In order to alleviate the housing crisis, the city fathers decided to build “unloading cities”. As a consequence of this decision, Neuperlach became the largest German housing project since World War II.

Today it is inhabited by more than 50,000 people.

Large streets like Heinrich Lübke Street and Kwiddestrasse, which run through almost the entire neighborhood, stand out.

If you want to go shopping, you can take advantage of the great opportunity to visit the Neuperlach shopping center.
